Saint-Michel Fountain

The Fontaine Saint-Michel, a monumental sculptural piece created by Gabriel Davioud, was inaugurated by the city of Paris in 1860. This manifesto for peace is located at the crossroads between boulevard Saint-Michel and rue Danton.
The whole piece, which is 26 metres high, shows Saint Michael, peacemaker, standing atop a rock and striking down a dragon. The work of Francisque Duret is framed by two dragon water fountains.
Today Place Saint-Michel is a meeting place for the many students in the area.
