Treasures of Kyoto: three centuries of Rinpa art, exhibition

26/10/2018 - 27/01/2019

The beauty of simplicity.

The Cernushi museum invites visitors to immerse themselves in the culture of ancient Kyoto which, during the 17th century, witnessed the emergence of a very special artistic movement. This movement, called Rinpa, makes a unique contribution to the country's art history. Pure lines, bright colours, harmonious arrangements etc. Rinpa has many fans and has made a lasting impact on Japanese artists, ensuring its posterity.
The works exhibited, which are both rare and precious, come directly from Japan and have rarely been viewed by the public before.
