Ile de la Cité

The ’île de la Cité is the historic heart of Paris, formerly known as Lutèce. Today it is symbolised by Notre-Dame-de-Paris, with its two towers and the hunchback who is long since gone. Eight bridges provide access to the island and link together the capital's left and right banks. It's a perfect place for relaxing and taking a stroll along the cobbled streets and down by the river's edge. From one end to the other, the island is packed with some of the capital's most important monuments, each of them relating a story from the history of Paris and of France. From the Pont Neuf, proceed up towards the Palais de la Justice. Inside its walls you will find the Conciergerie and the Sainte-Chapelle.

. Afterwards discover the charms of the Hôtel-Dieu which sits at the foot of Notre-Dame cathedral. The narrow alleys are flanked by beautiful, old buildings. Get away from the Parisian bustle: take some time out from your day's visit to enjoy a picnic lunch in one of the island's three little gardens. BR>
